a short illness.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church. Burial: Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood Funeral Home.
Helen Edburg, as she preferred to be addressed, was born Dec. 27, 1921, in Fort Worth. She lived with her mother and two sisters on the East Side, alone for the past two years, and was the last of the family to pass away. She was the second daughter of John and Esther Edburg.
She was a retired insurance policy writer. Helen was very active in her church throughout her entire life. She maintained her membership and activities with Grace Lutheran Church, chartered and founded in 1905, on Hemphill Street. She continued her membership activities as the church grew and moved with it to the I-35 location on the South Side. From the South Side, she moved with her church to the current McCart location. She lived to celebrate her church's 100th birthday.
She served on many committees, and was an active choir member. Helen loved Christmas and supported her church with decorations and trees as often as possible. She was an active member of the Leisure Group of the church.
Although her hearing was impaired for many years, one of her favorite songs was "A Mighty Fortress is Our God," which will be sung at her service.
She was a graduate of Polytechnic High School.
Helen was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty J. Edburg and Esther Elvera Edburg.
Survivors: Cousins, Elaine Witt, Robert Segerstrom, Jimmie Witt, Dorothy Domke, Paul Larson of Minnesota; and numerous cousins in Sweden.
