The Worship and Music Committee
The Worship and Music Committee shall consist of at least the elected Congregation Council chairperson of the committee and the coordinators of Assisting Ministers and Lectors, Acolytes, Ushers, Chancel Care, Nursery, and Worship Planning, and ex-officio the Director of Music, Director(s) of Choirs, and Organist.
The goal of this committee is to plan and implement the worship life of the congregation.
The duties and responsibilities of this committee shall be to:
1. Share in the planning and implementation of the music program with the organist(s) and Choir Director(s).
2. Recruit, coordinate, train and supervise the ushers.
3. Recruit, coordinate, train and supervise the acolytes.
4. Recruit, coordinate, train and supervise assisting ministers, communion assistants, lectors, etc.
5. Coordinate, train and supervise, with pastoral assistance, persons who distribute communion to individuals in special circumstances.
6. Recommend time and scheduling of worship services to the Congregation Council.
7. Plan, recommend and enable appropriate forms of worship, liturgies and hymns for use in public worship in consultation with the pastor(s).
8. Coordinate, train and supervise chancel care persons who will care for the use and maintenance of the worship items, the altar furnishing, vestments, flowers, etc.
9. Maintain an adequate supply of items for worship such as communion elements, baptismal napkins, candles, etc.
10. Prepare, or be responsible for the preparation of, the worship space for special occasions.
11. Arrange and publicize special services as needed.
12. Recruit, coordinate and supervise nursery personnel.
13. Review, annually, the performance of all music staff in conjunction with the Personnel Committee and submit the evaluation as requested to the Congregation Council.
