The Christian Education Committee

 The Christian Education Committee shall consist of at least the elected Congregational Council chairperson and the Superintendent of Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Director. 

The goals of this committee are to plan and administer the total education program of the congregation; to determine policies; to select personnel for the various ministries; to provide the necessary means and facilities for the ministries; and to direct and supervise the entire educational program of the congregation.

 The duties and responsibilities of this committee shall be to:

1.         Nurture the children, youth and adults in the congregation in a loving and Christian way, and, through them, in the home, community and beyond.

2.         Establish objectives of, recommend policies for, and supervise the total education program for the education of the congregation including Sunday Church School, confirmation classes, first communion classes and other education groups.

3.         Provide for active expression of Christian love and concern as an integral part of the total education program.

4.         Select curriculum and analyze performance of each educational program and seek constant improvement.

5.         Regular review of existing organizations to determine whether all groups are being served and recommend revisions and additions as deemed advisable.

6.         Make annual analyses, by age groups, to determine the degree of participation of the total membership of the congregation in its total educational program, and make recommendations for further growth if necessary.

7.         Work with organizations and other committees to coordinate educational activities through special classes, courses, conferences and retreats.

8.         Provide, in conjunction with the Evangelism Committee, for the recruitment of participants for the educational programs of the congregation.

9.         Encourage increased participation of every congregation member in Bible study and other various opportunities.

10.      Delegate administration of educational programs to qualified persons.

11.       Exercise leadership, with the Stewardship Committee, in gathering lists of candidates for teachers and leaders.

12.       Supervise the performance of teachers in the educational programs of the congregation.

13.       Enlist, train, and place lay teachers and leaders as the congregation’s needs require.

14.       Be concerned about the spiritual, emotional and physical health and welfare of teachers and leaders of the educational programs.

15.       Establish a system of communication for, and recognition of, faithful congregation services by all persons involved in the educational task of the congregation.

16.       Consider providing special educational opportunities for the mentally and physically challenged.

17.       Encourage participation in conferences, conventions and continuing educational opportunities.

18.       Maintain, improve, cultivate and promote the use of a church library, library subscriptions and the use audio visual aids.
