The Property Committee
The Property Committee shall consist of at least the Congregation Council chairperson and at least four (4) other members.
The goals of this committee are to properly maintain and repair church property; and, to protect the congregation against loss or damage of whatever nature.
The duties and responsibilities of this committee shall be to:
1. Make an annual inspection of church properties and equipment and recommend to the congregation needed repairs, improvements or replacements.
2. Conduct a bi-annual inventory of all church properties and equipment including acquisition date and approximate value.
3. Carry out all resolutions of the voters on purchases, repairs and replacements of church properties and equipment.
4. Determine needs and recommend qualified custodial help. The committee shall also meet periodically with the custodian(s) to discuss the care of the building, needs and problems in custodial service, etc.
5. Prepare, for the custodial help, a detailed list of the required daily, weekly, monthly and annual maintenance of the facilities and equipment.
6. Evaluate, annually, the performance of all custodial help in conjunction with the Personnel Committee and submit the evaluation to the Congregation Council.
7. Recommend, to the Congregation Council, written policies governing the use of church properties and equipment.
8. Issue keys for church property; keep and review a list of the keys and security codes issued on an annual basis.
9. Supervise, control and recommend adequate storage facilities for all church and church-sanctioned groups property, equipment and supplies and their orderly maintenance.
10. Check, annually, the adequacy of all types of insurance for church properties and equipment in conjunction with the Finance Committee.
11. Check all property twice a year for general safety hazards and make corrections.
12. Enlist work crews for special repair, improvement, cleaning, painting, decorating, landscaping and other projects.
13. Arrange for immediate repairs of an urgent nature and all normal repairs and alterations for which budget funds have been authorized.
14. Negotiate, or be responsible for the negotiation, of service contracts for the organ, office machines, etc.
